    HEADLINER ISSUE (rattling/coming loose)

Anyone else have this issue... Narrow area where headliner meets ceiling front of sunroof area.. was coming loose. Took it by the service dept. (Had appt. set up). One of the service guys checked me in... took pictures inside and outside of my car... AFTER I explained what the issue was. He said they had to take pictures of the entire car and then send FORD the pics along with submitting what the issue is, just to see if FORD will cover whatever the problem is under warranty.
First of all, the car is automatically covered under warranty... it's brand new. Secondly, I was not told of the extensive process that they had to go through just to make sure Ford would cover something as petty as the headliner coming loose. The guy, who checked me in and took pictures, asked me to come back after they hear back from Ford. I told him that wasn't possible. I had made an appt. around my work schedule. Okay, so he walks over to one of the mechanic/techs and brings him back to the car. The tech gets in and starts pushing up on the headliner (near the sunroof) and repositions it... said it's attached with Velcro?? Velcro is holding my car together?? OMG... Anyway, he repositioned it and it's fine now. I had no idea. LOL My question for you gurus out there... Is that normal for the service guy to take pictures of the entire car inside/out just to ask the company if it will even cover an issue?? I have never in my life of owning a vehicle (been through about 33 between my husband and myself) experienced that. BTW: We like cars, what can I say... I had told him what the problem was... the headliner was loose. The rest of the car was fine... He said that if I have any other problems with my car, he now has pics on his camera and can submit to FORD when needed. Just bizarro is all I can think of right now.

Manufacturers have been getting tougher on dealers for years, but not without cause or reason. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that blame things on dealerships and attempt to file false claims for damages. With the photos they have proof of the condition of the vehicle when the customer dropped it off. Harley-Davidson dealers, at least the ones in MD, have been taking photos of the bikes, before accepting the vehicle from the customer, to protect the dealerships and the manufacturer from false claims. I don't think there is anything unusual about the dealership taking photos of the car. Just my 2cents

Thanks mrcorvette... I just felt uncomfortable about the whole situation. The issue I had was, I made an appt. around my schedule 2 weeks prior and was not told they had to do all this... I wouldn't have been able to return until Dec. The dealership is 45 min. away. We have one closer but I wanted to use the one we purchased the car from. Not sure if I totally trust those guys either.
Thanks for your input. So basically it's to protect both parties from any false claims. That makes sense.
Has anyone else checked their headliner in front of the sunroof area? Hope the velcro is holding well... LOL I just think that is funny... being a teacher, we use it all the time in the classroom. Who knew? Take care!

Wow, I didn't realize velcro was holding the headliner in place. I'll occasionally get a rattle coming from behind the moonroof; I assume it's similar in nature to the one you are experiencing.

My 2012 titanium has all kinds of headliner issues. Velcro fails in front and in back of sunroof. Push it up, rattles go away for an hour or so, then they return.

Sunroof / headline noise in both my Titanium and the ST. Press on the headliner and it goes away for a while.

Sorry, Bamagirl, heir behavior was NOT acceptable and had it been MY wife, they would know the full extent of my wrath.
Ladies, as a former dealership Tech.. I will tell you that you have a target painted on your rears. The great majority of dealerships will treat you like a bubble brained idiot. Beware.
When you go to a dealership, your guard on to be maximum.
May I ask you to add your build date with your problem to this thread?:
